MONTICELLO EDUCATION
 Lawrence County is at the forefront of the increased emphasis on high technology. The $1.2 million Vocational-Technical Center provides adults and young people with tremendous opportunities to master the skills necessary to compete in today’s constantly changing work environment. The Vo-Tech Center offers training in eight areas: diversified technology, agricultural mechanics, electronics, intensive business, occupational clothing, and tech prep.
 Over 300 high school students and adults are involved in educational programs at the Center. These classes have generated such excitement in the community that there are waiting lists for many courses. Students especially enjoy working with personal computers and robotics. Lawrence County has indeed become a pacesetter in the bold new world of vocational-technical education.

Monticello has three schools located within the city limits; Monticello Elementary, Lawrence County Junior High, and Lawrence County High School.

Monticello Elementary is a state of the art elementary school that was part of a $4 million project school improvement program.

Lawrence County Junior High is newly renovated and has had many recent improvements.

The high school recently completed a multipurpose facility.

Our schools have a newly established Tech Prep program which enables students to choose either the college bound curriculum or technical curriculum where they can get hands on experience in a laboratory environment to prepare them for job in the next century.

Our Tech Prep program is a model program for the state of Mississippi, with other schools throughout the state looking at Lawrence County High's Tech Prep program.

Monticello is centrally located for many Colleges and Universities.
